Making it Your Own.

Hello again, recently I had the blessing and opportunity to preach at the gospel mission in Kalamazoo, and I wanted to share what the Lord spoke to me for them, to you guys.  So I hope you enjoy this, and I hope it encourages you for whatever season you are in!!

Let’s start off in 1 Samuel 16; David is anointed as King. David was the youngest of the family. He was the least likely from the outside appearance to be made king after Saul. Saul left a huge legacy from his people and being king was going to be a hard task.God looks at the inside of people, their hearts, not their outwards appearance. The Lord doesn’t look at the outward appearance but the inward character of their spirit. The Lord called David to be king.He doesn’t call the qualified, but He qualifies the Called.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)- But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

  • We are to seek the kingdom first and one of the ways that is able to happen is if we have a real stable relationship with Jesus.
  • How do you maintain and have a relationship with Jesus?
  • The same way you would maintain friendships here on Earth. (Inside Jokes, spending time together, communicating)

Revelation 3:16- So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

  • Not having a real relationship makes you a lukewarm Christian that Jesus doesn’t want near him.
  • God is more impressed with the heart behind something more than the actual result or image of the action.

Matthew 4:20 (NKJV) – They immediately left their nets and followed him.

Side note, they dropped their nets out of love and passion for His Character

  • Sometimes we focus on the leaving our nets for Jesus, but never actually following Him, and getting to know Him and His heart. Meaning our outward appearance will
  • Or we get hung up on the word immediately. We will eventually leave our nets and eventually follow Jesus, but His word said immediately for a reason.
    • THE WORD IMMEDIATELY IS IMPORTANT LATER ON!
  • Jesus wants to be just like Peter and Andrew… Immediately following His Heart not just His works.
    • Follow His personality; create a solid relationship with Him.

Matthew 7:15-20 (NKJV)

5 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

  • What type of fruit do you want to start showing?

    • Prosperous living fruit, fruit of joy, of kindness, of healing, of provision?
      • God is the God of more than enough.
  • God wants to know you on a personal level, that’s why He made you. He made you to be you and no one else.

Don’t let other people dictate where your life and calling are going. They aren’t the ones living your life.

Friends, family, and other people you surround yourself with will try to give input but You Have to dictate the direction you go in.

Don’t let circumstances or situations determine where you can go in your life. There is only one thing in all of everything that can determine where you can go, and that’s you. Choose to follow God and His calling.

GOD IS THE GOD OF POWER OVER CIRCUMSTANCE! Whatever issue is thrown at you, God has the power over it. Life is filled with battles and wars to be won, but you got to team up with the Lord to defeat the circumstance.

1 Samuel 17- David refuses to put on the armor that people try to put on Him. He can’t move. He can’t see. He can’t swing the sword.. Etc etc. He chose to go out there with what He knew how to do, and with the Lord, and He slayed Goliath and was promoted.

  • He knew what God could do through Him because of the faith He possessed.
  • He chose to make His faith his own, and not let anyone else tell Him how to walk and live with the Lord.

Mark 5:25-34

25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

5 Quick Take-Aways

  • Her faith in the Lord caused action, her actions didn’t cause her to have faith.
  • She didn’t let her circumstance define her destiny of healing.
  • She confessed what she did to Jesus and that lead to her blessing.
  • That immediate action of her touching Jesus, the immediate faith, caused her IMMEDIATE healing.
  • Jesus is a good God and wants to do that to all who are in faith.

She didn’t let people tell her what to do with her relationship with the Lord, she just did it. She lept in faith, and was healed.

So here’s my question to you: What do you need from the Lord you can use your faith for?

Here’s my challenge for you: Do it Immediately.
